Xiaomi Backup File Location

Many Xiaomi or Redmi users cannot find where their backup files are located. Yes, we truly have made backups and they are taking quite a lot of space, but where are they? Not in the "backup" folder in root directory. How could we move the backups to PC? After all, all data, including backups, may get cleared when we install Developer ROM or factory reset our Xiaomi.

Part 1. Xiaomi/Redmi Backup File Location

Actually, no matter in Xiaomi or Redmi, the backups made via built-in function are in MIUI> backup> AllBackup. The backups are named with the date and time that they were made.

Part 2. How to Move Xiaomi Backup to PC

In case the backups on phone memory get lost and in order to free up space on Xiaomi, we can move the backups to PC. Now that we know the location of the backup files, it is easy to move the backups to PC.
Step 1. Connect your Xiaomi to a Windows computer via a USB cable.
Step 2. Find and open your phone via Windows Explorer (My Computer on Windows desktop). Check this tutorial if Windows doesn't recognize your phone.
Step 3. Go to MIUI> backup> AllBackup.
Step 4. Copy the backup you need and paste to a location on your PC.

Part 3. How to Move Xiaomi Backup from PC to Phone

Is it as easy as the Part 2? Not always. If your Xiaomi were factory reset due to ROM installing or other reasons, there doesn't exist a location as MIUI> backup> AllBackup on your phone. And the system won't recognize a location that is made by yourself. Then, how to do? Make a backup first.
Step 1. On your phone, go to Settings> Additional settings> Backup & reset> Local backups.
Step 2. Tap Back up, and then choose any data to make a backup.
Step 3. Now the backup location should be generated by the system, so you can move the backups (named with date and time) to the AllBackup folder.
Step 4. Back to Settings> Additional settings> Backup & reset> Local backups. The phone should now detect the moved backups.
